Blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross
On a sunny day in May, 137 Guardian employees (including a few family members and friends) signed up to donate blood. The actual turnout numbered 100, and from that number the American Red Cross collected 83 pints of blood in just nine hours. Because the response was so outstanding, the American Red Cross made special arrangements to secure two teams of workers so that the drive would not be limited to four hours, but would run from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. to accommodate the schedules of installers, central station operators and sales reps, as well as corporate executive, management and support personnel.
