Optimizing Your Guardian System
Why should you update your Contact List?
Updating your contact list will ensure a successful resolution to an emergency situation. "When it's an emergency situation, we're wasting very valuable time if we can't locate the emergency contact person, due to a change the subscriber hasn't told us about," said Emil Parent, Central Station Director at Guardian Protection Services. "After the authorities are contacted, a quick connection with an emergency contact person can make a world of difference."

Situation: Mrs. Jones was having chest pains and pressed the medical panic button on her Guardian security keypad. Guardian dispatched an ambulance immediately and then called the emergency contact Mrs. Jones provided two years ago. Unfortunately, it was a neighbor who had moved.

Situation: The Guardian security system at a local retailer signaled a burglar alarm. Guardian's 24-hour central station immediately notified the police and then called the emergency contact. The gentleman replied that he no longer worked for the retailer and was therefore unable to meet the police at the establishment or notify anyone else.

When should you update your Contact List?
Review your emergency contact list and update or revise it if:
  • An emergency contact's name or work number has changed.

  • An emergency contact is deceased.

  • There has been a change in your family unit, or in your emergency contact's family, such as divorce.

  • The emergency contact is no longer a neighbor you can rely upon.

  • Your community ambulance service transferred from a volunteer service to a private service.
