  1. PLACE YOUR SYSTEM ON TEST
Before changing the battery, ensure the system is disarmed and go to Guardian's Customer Care Website. You may also contact our Customer Service Department at 1-888-895-4805 to have your system placed on test. This ensures Guardian doesn't accidentally notify the authorities.

  2. LOCATE YOUR PANEL BOX
Locate your all-in-one control panel and disconnect the AC adapter using a regular or Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew it from the outlet.

    ACCESS YOUR BATTERY
Remove the trim ring from the face of the panel by inserting a regular screwdriver into the slot located at the bottom-right corner of the panel and twisting it. Release the panel from the mounting plate by lifting the tabs located at the top-left and top-right of the panel.

EXAMINE THE BATTERY Examine the battery for any abnormalities (i.e. the battery has a swollen or split case, there is liquid leaking from the case, the terminals are corroded or the battery is hot.) If there are any abnormalities to the battery, please close the panel box and contact a Guardian representative to schedule a service call.

  3. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY
**NOTE: Your security system may sound or the keypad may beep as an indication that the battery has been removed from the system. You may press the * button to temporarily stop the noise while you change the battery.
Follow the wires from the battery pack to the black connector and unplug it from the panel, then remove the battery pack by placing one finger under the end of the battery and pull away from the retaining clip.
TIP: You may need to use a pair of pliers with electrically insulated handles. You may need to wiggle the connector slightly for it to come loose.
Remove the old battery from the control panel box.
Warning: Do not to touch any metal objects to the terminals on the battery or to the open-end of the black and red wire connectors.

  4. REMOVE PLASTIC PROTECTOR
If the replacement battery has plastic terminal protectors, remove them before connecting the wires to the new battery.

    CONNECT NEW BATTERY
Insert the new battery and reconnect the plug into the panel.
TIP: If the replacement battery does not have a red or black terminal, look at the top of the battery for a terminal next to a (+) positive or (-) Negative sign, respectively.

    CLOSE THE PANEL
Swing the panel up to the mounting plate and lock it into place and replace the trim ring. Plug the AC adapter into the lower plug outlet and replace the retaining screw. The "Low Battery" indicator should clear from the screen automatically once AC power is restored.

  5. TEST YOUR SYSTEM
Be sure to test your system before having it removed from Test Mode. For assistance, please call Guardian's Customer Service Department at 1-888-895-4805 or go to customercare.guardianprotection.com
